Poniżej fragment tekstu promującego spotkanie:
“Newest Art History”. What are the paths of the youngest art histories?
18th Conference of the Austrian Society of Art Historians (Verein österreichischer Kunsthistorikerinnen und Kunsthistoriker, VÖKK)
6th-8th November 2015, Department of Art History (Institut für Kunstgeschichte), University of Vienna.
Ever since Hans Belting’s provocative postulate about the “End of Art History” (1984) there have been extensive debates on Art History as a research field, its methods and goals. Since then, numerous different and trans disciplinary approaches have enriched the now established canonical terms of New Art History, visual culture and visual studies.
What are the New Art History’s and visual culture’s current questions and problems, and what are their duties in the 21st century?
In the fall of 1984 the VÖKK replied directly to Belting’s postulate by making it the subject of the 2nd “Österreichischer Kunsthistorikertag”. Now, thirty years later and within the context of the 18th conference of the VÖKK in November 2015, the current and latest tendencies, questions and paths shall be presented and discussed.
